The field of social work requires well trained and highly motivated persons. The social problems are multiplying, affecting all age groups due to intricacy of living in modern years. Families are breaking, workers seek better deal with management, patients require follow-up after treatment in hospitals in the form of total cure and rehabilitation. Alcoholics need to be weaned away from the addiction and reshaped to be useful to their family and society. Neglected children need suitable source of support to develop. Economically weak persons can be grouped for self-help through the efforts of trained social workers.

Youth need to be made aware of dangers of narcotic drugs and diseases due to indiscriminate relations. Sheer motivation is not enough to render help to these groups facing social problems. Professional training will equip the students with information, legal provisions and programmes available for helping the vulnerable sections of society.

The  BPNISW is initiating the process of training young under graduates and graduates as professionals to render professional social work.
